“Loong Noodles' branding is a bold fusion of youthful energy and contemporary design, strategically crafted to captivate a vibrant, pop-culture-savvy audience. The brand’s identity is rooted in "vibrant eclecticism," brought to life through dynamic design elements and playful yet sophisticated visual storytelling.”

As the Project Manager at Design Next Agency, I led the Loong Noodles project from initial concept development through to the final buildout, achieving completion within an accelerated 26-week timeline. The design prominently features stainless steel finishes, creating a sleek, modern aesthetic that enhances the brand's edgy and contemporary tone.

This project exemplifies the seamless integration of branding and spatial design, resulting in a visually striking and inviting environment that aligns with the client’s vision and appeals to its target demographic. My role included overseeing the intricate design execution, managing construction coordination, and ensuring all elements met the highest standards of quality and functionality.

In the heart of St. Marks, Manhattan—a neighborhood celebrated for its electric street market energy, diverse culinary offerings, and youthful pulse—this brand concept was crafted to disrupt and redefine the casual dining scene.

To introduce a very unique Southern Chinese cuisine to a modern American audience, the design needed to transcend cultural boundaries while capturing the bold, unapologetic spirit of the area. The challenge was clear: create an interior identity that not only stands out in an oversaturated market but also resonates deeply with a demographic driven by style, authenticity, and shareability.

Taking inspiration from Dan Ashram's signature cut-out design, the bar counter emphasizes visual depth, serving as the focal point for dynamic customer interactions. Hot pink tiles are juxtaposed against stainless steel cladding panels, creating a visually compelling contrast that has an edgy sophistication. Above, a string of LED lighting channels the fluidity of a dragon—an integral motif in the brand’s visual identity. The undulating illumination surrounds the space with a sense of movement, energy, and cultural symbolism, capturing the essence of the cuisine and the neighborhood.

The color palette features electric pinks, sharp greens, and crisp metallic neutrals, delivering a fearless visual punch that amplifies the brand’s vibrant identity. The curated color palette does not shy away from attention but rather commands it, amplifying the brand’s energetic identity. Balancing the industrial edge of steel and vibrant hues, the design incorporates custom-made light oak benches, introducing an inviting warmth to the space. These soft, natural elements provide a grounding contrast, ensuring that the environment is as approachable as it is visually stimulating.

With only 700 square feet to work with, the design ingeniously addresses the client’s and designer’s spatial constraints. A large, strategically placed mirror spans one wall, visually doubling the area while adding an element of intrigue. This design invites diners to explore their surroundings and enhances the sense of openness, making the compact interior feel unexpectedly airy. Illuminated signages, featuring a sleek and contemporary logo, act as an irresistible call to action, drawing in new passersby.

St. Marks is a stage for culinary experimentation and design innovation, home to an array of local gems. This new addition rises to the challenge, standing out with its fearless yet thoughtful approach. By seamlessly blending bold, modern aesthetics with thoughtful cultural elements, the interior creates a dynamic yet inviting atmosphere. This space goes beyond simply serving food - it tells a story. Whether diners come for the flavors or the vibe, they’ll leave with a lasting impression of a restaurant that is as visually striking as it is deliciously memorable.
